Revivial Post : 19 september Shelfing Training.

Today, after school we went to Marine Parade Library for our training for housekeeping which includes skills like sorting. Firstly we received a warm welcome from the presenter, Mr Koh, he gave us some introduction about the library and details on shelfing via a powerpoint. The theory lesson lasted around 1hour. Then, we were brought to the sorting room for a 'hands on' try out. We were given mainly three types of books to practice with: Toddler,Children and Adult books. The hands on were very important as it revised everything we had learned in theory. After one hour of trying outs, we were brought back to the presentation room and given a Question and Answer session. After that we were dismissed with our new learnt house keeping skills.

Skills session 2 22/8/08 1h

Diary entry: After taking attendance, some of us took the sec1 cadets while some others took the sec2 cadets. The sec3 cadets revised their baton and rifle drills. The revision is to prepare for the upcoming ROd parade. The sec2 maintained their drill standards, while the sec1s still showed an evident weak foundation in the area of drills.

Skills section3 28/8/08 2h

Diary entry: After attendance taking, the normal routine of ICs taking their respective sec2 and sec1 squads resumed. The sec3 cadets were given a simple test to ensure that they knew the rifle drills very well. The sec2 and sec1 cadets showed a marked improvement for their drills.

Skills section4 5/9/08 2h

Diary entry: The sec2 and sec1 cadets started off their drill session with a surprise test by us to identify the better ones and to help the weaker ones get more help and assistance on their drills. This activity proved to help the sec2s and sec1s better in our bid to improve their drill standard.

Physical recreation1 22/8/08 3h

Diary entry: Today, we started off by playing a simple passing game called "1-touch". Everyone had to use only 1 touch to pass the ball to another person, this would continue on until someone fails to do so and the game restarts agin. The main objective of this is to train everybody's passing skills. Then we proceeded on to "monkey". In this game everyone would stand in a circle and there would be 1 "monkey" in the middle. The people on the outside have to try and pass the ball to one another continuously and the "monkey" would have to try and intercept the ball. When this happens, the last person would be the "monkey". Lastly, we had a soccer match and the final score was 2-0.

Physical recreation 2 28/8/08 3h

Diary entry: We started off by playing a very simple game of passing among everybody to warm up. Then we proceedded on to our usual game of "monkey". Before the match. we then had another game of shooting at the goal. Then we had a match which resulted in a final score of 6-1.

Physical recreation 3 5/9/08 3h

Diary entry: The match started first today and the score was 7-2. Our friends who left for IP also came back and joined us for this match. Then we proceeded on to shooting at the goal. Then we had another short match and the score was 2-2.

Physical recreation 4 12/9/08 2h

Diary entry: Today we started off by having a match and the score was 7-1. Then to cool down, we practised passing among ourselves in a cirlce.

Physical recreation 5 17/10/08 3h

Diary entry: Having mastered our passing skills already, we then carried on with crossing. For a start, we practiced crossing the ball to our partner at a distance away from us. We did very well for first timers at this activities. Then we had a match after our exams and the score was 4-1.
